Started or Adult Dogs

Dogs that are selected in to a basic training and started gun dog training are based on puppy's behavior and breeder discretion. The breeder may hold puppies out of a litter to put training into them at there discretion as well.

Trained dogs are not always a guaranteed availability!

What is started dog?

A started dog is one of two things at Ruger's Ridge Labradors:

All training is dependent on the puppy's temperament. Cost of training is also dependent on what age the puppy/dog leaves our home.

Basic Trained Dog
- dogs over 6 months and older qualify
- these dogs are trained in crate/kennel behavior
- know basic commands; sit, place, lay, shake, etc.
- they are house trained and can successfully go out to the restroom and are considered "potty trained"
Basic Started Hunting Dog
- dogs over 6 month and older qualify
- all of the basic training from above is completed depending on age of the young/adult dog
- exposure to basic starts to hunting
- know how to retrieve dummies, wings/antlers, and live birds
- gun shot exposure and shows no signs of gun shyness

Will these dogs still come with AKC Full/Limited Rights?

Yes, these adolescent dogs and adult dogs will still come registered via the AKC.

Decisions will be made on a case by case basis for each dog that has been started if they will be sold with or without Full/Limited registration.

All dogs that leave here will be priced according to training that has been put into the dog. Via basic dog training or started hunting dog training.

All dogs that are sold with Full breeding rights will have already underwent all OFA and DNA health testing prior to leaving our home. They must pass all testing to be sold with Breeding rights!! No exceptions will be made!
